If you’re attending a HSE complex menopause clinic, you are now eligible for a referral to the IFPA where you can avail of eight free counselling sessions funded by the HSE.
Menopause is a significant life event, and everyone’s experience is different. Many women experience symptoms which can often be managed with the support of a doctor, the use of medications like hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and lifestyle changes. For a minority, however, symptoms will significantly interfere with their quality of life.
If you are experiencing premature menopause or have an underlying condition which makes HRT unsuitable for you, your doctor may refer you to a HSE complex menopause clinic for more specialist treatment. In this case, you’re also eligible for eight free counselling sessions with the IFPA.
Our counselling service
Menopause can be associated with mood changes such as heightened anxiety, sadness and anger. It can also bring up complex emotions about identity, ageing and fertility, and can bring on feelings of loss and frustration.
Talking to a professional therapist can help. Our counselling service is a confidential space to talk through your experience of menopause.
Our experienced counsellors can provide you with expert support during this transition by helping you explore lifestyle changes and learn skills that can promote mental wellbeing.
Our goal is to ensure that you feel heard, supported and more equipped to navigate the challenges of this life stage.
