On November 25 2008, (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) 15 European countries are launching 15 Action Plans to address FGM in their respective countries. Female genital mutilation (FGM) is a harmful practice that violates the human rights of women and girls, perpetuates negative gender based stereotypes, infringes upon children's rights to special protections and has serious social, health and psychological consequences.

As part of the pan-European initiative, Ireland's National Steering Committee to Address FGM is pleased to invite you to the launch of Ireland's National Plan of Action to Address FGM.
