IFPA Departments

Medical Department

The IFPA operates two medical clinics, one in Dublin city centre and one in Tallaght. Both clinics offer a comprehensive range of sexual and reproductive health services to private and medical card clients, including:

• Vasectomy (Dublin city centre clinic only)
• Emergency Contraception
• Free Cervical Screening
• STI Screening & Treatment
• Home STI Testing
• Pregnancy Testing
• Fertility Advice
• Post-Abortion Medical Check-Up
• Menopause Check-Up
• Free FGM Treatment Service (Dublin city centre clinic only)
• General Health Check

The IFPA Medical Department is responsible for:

• Ensuring that the standard of medical care given in IFPA clinics is of the highest standard.
• Overseeing the training of doctors and nurses in IFPA clinics.
• Organising a bi-annual Certificate in Contraception training for nurses and midwives.

Counselling Department

The IFPA provides safe, confidential, non-directive and non-judgmental pregnancy counselling services for women who are experiencing an unplanned or crisis pregnancy. The service is free and operated by professional accredited counsellors and psychotherapists at 11 locations nationwide: Cork, Dublin City Centre, Tallaght, Dundalk, Tuam, Galway, Gorey, Letterkenny, Limerick, Sligo and Waterford. Post-abortion counselling is also available at these centres. IFPA counsellors provide accurate, honest and clear information about all pregnancy options – abortion, parenting and adoption – and will support a woman's own choice in all cases.

Education & Training Department

The IFPA Education and Training Department provides a selection of specialist training courses and education resources for people working in the area of sexuality education, for parents and community groups.

Advocacy & Communications Department

The IFPA Advocacy and Communications Department is responsible for all media queries, public events and the development of the IFPA's policy position on all aspects of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in Ireland and internationally.
