The IFPA is a national voluntary organisation and registered charity which has been pioneering sexual and reproductive health and rights in Ireland since 1969.
We are recognised as a source of expertise because of our experience in the provision of the highest quality medical services, contraception advice, crisis pregnancy counselling, education and training and policy development.
Throughout the evolution of sexual and reproductive health and rights in Ireland, the IFPA has been on hand to provide information, advice and services on emerging issues. In 1969, when the IFPA opened its doors, emerging issues included access to hormonal contraception and basic information on reproduction. In 2009, emerging issues include female genital mutilation, Ireland's international obligations to support SRHR, emergency contraception over the counter and many many others.
This section provides more in depth information on certain issues that are relevant in Ireland today.
