Festival Guide to Good Sexual Health

With the summer festival season about to kick off the IFPA has five handy tips for festival goers to promote good sexual health.

  1. Come Prepared: Always always pack contraception – even if you don't need it you can be the kind person to help out a friend.
  2. Belt and Braces: Remember that the pill doesn’t protect against STIs so it’s always best to use a condom.
  3. Don’t over do it: Alcohol can inhibit sexual pleasure and make safe sex more difficult to negotiate.
  4. Uh Oh: If things don’t go to plan get emergency contraception from a pharmacist. Emergency contraception can be taken up to 72 hours after sex, but the sooner you take it the more effective it is.
  5. Have Fun: Remember that sex is about pleasure, fulfilment and fun so don’t do anything you don’t want to do.
