Contraceptive Patch
Article index
Effectiveness: 99% effective when used properly.
What is it?
Hormonal Contraception. It is a square patch (like a nicotine patch!) that contains the hormones estrogen and progestogen. You stick it to your abdomen, buttock or upper arm. Hormones are released continuously through the skin. You change the patch every week for three weeks, then take a week off.
Is it for you?
It provides a different form of combined hormonal contraception to the combined pill. It only has to be remembered once a week.
It is not transparent, so it is visable.
