Genital Herpes

Genital Herpes is caused by the Herpes Simplex 2 virus, which is very similar to the virus that causes cold sores around the mouth. Herpes Simplex 1 can also cause some infections.

Symptoms can include, tingling or itching around the genital area, followed by the appearance of small, painful, sores or blisters. Other symptoms can include flu-like feelings and a burning sensation when peeing.

Genital Herpes can be treated with oral painkillers, antiseptic cream, and in some case the use of the anti-viral drug Acyclovir.

It is important to note that while some people only suffer one or two attacks of genital herpes, some sufferers can experience recurrent attacks. It is most infectious during an outbreak.
