You can get sexually transmitted infections (STIs) through unprotected sex, including oral, anal and vaginal sex. Any sexually active person should get tested regularly, at least twice a year.

Many STIs have no signs and symptoms and if left untreated can result in infertility in both sexes and other serious medical conditions, which is why STI testing or screening is so important. If you are pregnant and think you might have an STI, it is particularly important to get tested and treated as soon as possible.

The good news is that treatment for most STIs is simple and painless.

Our Service

We provide high-quality STI screening at our clinics in Dublin city centre and Tallaght. Our screening tests for all of the major STIs. Our trained and experienced medical staff screen for and treat STIs in an understanding and helpful way so there is no need for you to feel embarrassed.

What’s involved?

• An STI screening takes about 30 minutes.
• A screening involves a consultation, physical examination, urine and blood samples and swabs
• At the IFPA, we provide a full STI screening which tests for all of the following infections: HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis, trichomonas and genital herpes.

Please avoid emptying your bladder for 90 minutes prior to the appointment.

A non-refundable deposit of €50 is required to book an STI screening.
