Stethoscope imageThere are a number of signs of pregnancy, but a missed period is usually the first indication. However, some women may still experience lighter / shorter periods, and for women who do not experience a regular cycle, it is difficult to know when their period is due.

If you think that you might be pregnant a pregnancy test is the most reliable way to confirm you are pregnant.

Home pregnancy tests cost about €10 and are available from pharmacies and some supermarkets. These are reliable as long as you follow the instructions carefully. Some women prefer to have a doctor or nurse carry out the test.

What’s involved: The IFPA pregnancy testing services is conducted by our family planning nurses and will take 10-15 minutes. A urine sample is required to carry out the test.

Cost:

Pregnancy testing €20.
